Former Senior Technical Advisor to the Director of the White House Military Office & Former Director of Strategic Initiatives Directorate
Mr. Thomas W. Geyer retired from Federal Service in Jan 2025 after 14 years at the White House Military Office (WHMO). He served as the Senior Technical Advisor to the Director of WHMO and also as Director of the Strategic Initiatives Directorate. In this role, Mr. Geyer led efforts to shape and plan for WHMO’s future across its entire mission area. These efforts included long range strategic planning, conceptual studies and analyses, initial requirements definition, and operational assessments. Responsibilities working with WHMO partners included interacting with the Intelligence Community on future threats, participating in National Security Council-led interagency working groups pertaining to policy issues affecting the WHMO mission and leading WHMO’s equities regarding all aspects of National Leadership Command Capabilities. While in Federal Service he was a Defense Intelligence Senior Leader (DISL). He received the Presidential Rank Award, Meritorious Executive, in 2021.
Mr. Geyer entered Federal Service after 28 years as a systems engineer in private industry supporting the Defense Department and the Intelligence Community. His technical areas of expertise include: aircraft survivability, nuclear survivability, nuclear command and control, critical infrastructure protection, emergency action decision support and extensive support to continuity of government programs.
While in private industry, Mr. Geyer held senior management positions, most recently as Senior Vice President and Director of Toyon Research Corporation.
He has a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
